The title isn’t strictly true. The enormous amount of tests and assignments that are quickly approaching haven’t made me stress, they’ve made me forget. I believe this is a special teenage condition called procrastination.
The mid-semester break is over and I have accomplished the following:
- Ran away up North for a break from the big smoke
- Copious amounts of drinking
- Absolutely no study
I know what you’re thinking: Tiana, how could you do this to yourself, you have a test in three days! But alas, your words fall on deaf ears, as I am still yet to study.
What happened to the motivation that I started the year with? Nothing. I know it’s hidden somewhere inside my body, I just have to rediscover it.
However, not just yet.
Here’s how Paihia was:
- Beautiful water
- Took a car ferry over to Rawhiti to see some more beautiful water
- Ate the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen, with knives protruding
- Am yet to pay my toll (adulting – one step at a time)
- Saw huruhuru falls (love a good waterfall)
- Slept in potentially the softest hotel bed I have ever slept in
Besides the above, I had the pleasure of catching up with two of my closest friends in high school. We were always a group of three and spent everyday together without fail. Last night was the first time we’ve been together in a long time! It was the perfect girls night: fine food, gossip, drinks and the sheer laughable nature of best friend A trying to stumble out the front door to go home.
A tip: Keep in touch with the people who have always been there for you. Nothing can lift your spirits quicker.
Another mention: The inside bloggers gave a talk at the courses and careers day and answered a few questions. For all the prospective university goers out there: there really is nothing as informative as hearing from people your own age who recently went through all the processes (studying, enrolment, boarding) that you are about to encounter. I think it’s really invaluable to talk with someone in university when considering going to university! After seeing what the courses and careers day had to offer I was disappointed that I didn’t go myself when I was in my last year of high school!
An apology: In one of my past posts I said Frank Ocean wouldn’t drop his album… Then he dropped two. Bless. Sorry Frank.
Yours,
Tiana
